Letter Z activity  (I can recognize and name some letters)

  • Have a grown up help you read the words

  • Use your crayons in your AT HOME KIT to color illustrations for your book

  • Read your book to someone

 

Pete the Cat Goes Camping (I can respond to what I read) 

  • Complete this assignment in Seesaw

 

Alphabet Trash Pick up  (I can identify letters)

  • Find the Alphabet Pick Up sheet and the letter trash can sheets in your ENVIRONMENT LEARNING PACKET

  • You will also need your scissors and a crayon from your AT HOME KIT

  • Cut out each of the trashcans (hint:  You don’t have to cut them exactly- just enough to separate them) 

  • Once they are all cut out, crumble them into paper balls and toss them around the room

  • Get the Alphabet Pick up sheet and the crayon 

  • Pick up the first crumbled ball, unfold it and see what letter it is.

  • Find that letter on your pick up sheet and color it in.

  • Say the letter name and the letter sound

  • Keep playing until all the paper is picked up and your sheet if all colored in

 

Letter Writing (I can identify and write the letter Z)

  • Find your little Z book in your ANIMALS WK 1 LEARNING PACKET

  • Practice writing the letter Z in your book and then color the Z words

  • Find someone at home and read the book to them

Fine Motor

Suncatchers   (I can demonstrate hand eye coordination)

  • Find the cellophane sheets and the contact paper in your ENVIRONMENT LEARNING PACKET and your scissors from your AT HOME LEARNING KIT

  • Cut the cellophane into smaller pieces

  • Pull the backing halfway off of the contact paper and place it on the table sticky side up

  • Stick the cellophane onto the contact paper to make a design

  • When your design is finished, pull the backing off the other half of the contact paper

  • Stick it together trapping the cellophane between the two pieces of contact paper

  • Cut into any shape you like and hang on a window

 

Coffee Filter Earth (I can use fine motor control)

  • Find the coffee filters and the pipettes in your ENVIRONMENT LEARNING PACKET

  • You will also need the green and blue markers from your AT HOME KIT

  • Color the coffee filter with the blue and green markers 

  • Carefully use the pipette to squirt a little pit of water onto the coffee filter 

  • Watch the colors spread out until you filter looks like the Earth 

 

Tiny Dot Planet (I can use precise fine motor movements)

  • Find the Earth picture with the dots on it in your ENVIRONMENT LEARNING PACKET

  • You will need a blue marker and a green marker from your AT HOME KIT

  • Use the markers to color in the dots to finish your Earth.

 

Tree Bark Rubbing (I can demonstrate fine motor skills)

  • You will need a piece of paper and the unwrapped crayon in your ENVIRONMENT LEARNING PACKET

  • Find a grown up and head outside.  

  • Look for a tree that you can walk up to safely 

  • Place the paper against the tree trunk and use you crayon sideways to rub the paper

  • You would make an image of the tree bark

  • Look at it closely and talk about what you see

 

Campfire Cutting Practice     (I can demonstrate cutting skills)

  • Find the cutting sheets in your ENVIRONMENT  LEARNING PACKET and your scissors from your AT HOME KIT 

  • Have your grown up cut the cutting samples apart so they are easier to hold

  • Practice cutting by following the lines

Math

Create Buzzy Bugs (I can demonstrate fine motor skills)

  • You will need the model magic in your ENVIRONMENT LEARNING PACKET 

  • Use you model magic to create a bug

  • When it’s dry, use your markers to color it 

  • Give your bug a name and tell someone all about your bug

 

Bug Jar (I can use precise fine motor movements)

  • Find the Jar picture and the round stickers in your BUGS LEARNING PACKET

  • You will need a black marker from your AT HOME KIT

  • Use the sticker to make bugs in your jar.  Use your marker to add 6 legs to each one.

 

Spiders (I can work bi-laterally)

  • Find the paper plate (cut into a smaller circle) black paper, black strips and wiggle eyes in your BUGS LEARNING PACKET

  • You will also need glue from your AT HOME KIT

  • Glue the black paper onto the paper plate

  • Use your scissors to cut the paper the same size as the circle

  • Accordion fold each of the black strips.  You may need your grown up to help with this

  • Glue each of the strips onto the edge of your spider to make the legs

  • Finish by gluing the eyes onto your spider 

 

Honeycomb Cutting Practice     (I can demonstrate cutting skills)

  • Find the honeycomb sheet, bee stickers and brown paper in your BUGS  LEARNING PACKET and your scissors and glue stick from your AT HOME KIT  

  • Cut out all of the honey comb shapes from the honeycomb sheet

  • Glue them onto the brown paper with a little bit of space between them to make a honeycomb 

  • Place you bee stickers onto the honeycomb

Dino Playdough Mats (I can demonstrate fine motor skills)

  • You will need the Dino Playdough Mats in your DINOSAURS LEARNING PACKET and your Playdoh from your AT HOME KIT  

  • Use your playdoh to roll out pieces to make the different dinosaurs

 

Dinosaur Letters   (I can write my letters)

  • Find the Dinosaur Letter Trace sheet in your DINOSAURS LEARNING PACKET

  • You will need a crayon, marker or pencil from your AT HOME KIT

  • Trace each of the letters

  • Say their names and sounds while you trace them .

 

Quicksand(I can explore sensory materials)

  • Find the corn starch in your DINOSAURS LEARNING PACKET.  You will also need a bowl or other container and a glass of water

  • Put the corn starch in the container and slowly add a little bit of water until it is all wet, but there isn’t excess water on top.

  • Play around and experiment.  

    • What happens if you squeeze it? Push it? Hold it in your hand?

    • DO NOT WASH THE QUICKSAND DOWN THE DRAIN.  When you are finished throw it away in the trash.

It’s a Dinosuar  (I can demonstrate creativity)

  • Find the paper bag sheet in your DINOSAUR  LEARNING PACKET and your scissors and glue stick from your AT HOME KIT.  You will also need some additional craft materials that you chose.  

  • Using the materials in your AT HOME KIT, turn your paper bag into a dinosaur

  • Draw and write on the sidewalk.  

  • If you find a little puddle, dip you chalk in the puddle and see if it changes how it works. 

 

Fine Motor Ideas (I can practice fine motor skills)

  • Go to the motor section of our preK website

  • Choose 1 activity to do

*Remember the website will be available all summer 

 

Squirt Paint (I can demonstrate fine motor skills)

  • You will need your watercolors, pipette and some paper from your AT HOME KIT

  • Add enough water to the paint to be able to “suck” up the point into the pipette 

  • Lay the paper on the ground then squeeze the pipette to squirt the paint onto the paper

  • Continue until your art is just how you want it

  • Another way to do this is to just use the pipette and plain water and squirt onto the sidewalk.to make sidewalk art that evaporates in the sun 

 

Paint with Water  (I can demonstrate creativity)

  • Find the paint brush  in your END OF YEAR  LEARNING PACKET 

  • Take your brush and a bucket or cup of water outside

  • Use the water as your paint 

  • See what you can create with water

  • If it is a hot day, you  can even paint on yourself or other people if they tell you it’s okay

  • Once you are done, wait a few minutes and your art will disappear and you can create a whole new picture 

Math

  • One of the large containers should be full of water

  • Place one of the large containers on the ground and place the other one 10-12 yards away on the ground

  • Use the small cup to carry water from the big container to the other big container.

  • Time how long it takes you to fill the container.

  • Find a friend and make it a race
