Theme: All About Us

Phonics/letters

Letter Q activity  (I can recognize and name some letters)

  • Complete this assignment in Seesaw

 

My Name is Johari Book (I can discuss book features)

  • Find the My Name is Johari book in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET

  • Have a grown up help you read the words

  • Use your crayons in your AT HOME KIT to color illustrations for your book

  • Read your book to someone

 

Bone Names (I can recognize letters) 

  • Get the black paper and the Q-tips from your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET.  You will also need a white crayon and your bottle of glue from your AT HOME KIT

  • Have your grown write the first letter of you name REALLY BIG on the black paper

  • Use glue and trace the letter, then add a Q-tip “bone” to outline your letter.

  • When it is dry you can see and feel the letter

  • Practice saying it’s name and it’s sound

    • Can you make your whole name out of “bones” 

 

Body Alphabet  (I can identify letters)

  • Find the Body Alphabet sheet in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET

  • To start, choose a letter, name it and  say it’s sound

  • Try to make that letter with your body

    • How many letters can you name?

    • How many can you make with your body?

 

Letter Writing (I can identify and write the letter Q)

  • Find your little Q book in your RHYMES LEARNING PACKET

  • Practice writing the letter Q in your book and then color the Q words

  • Find someone at home and read the book to them

Body Movement Cubes (I can demonstrate locomotor control)

  • Find the movement cube sheets in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET

  • There is one sheet with body parts and one sheet with actions

  • Cut the outside edges of the cubes, then fold and tape to make cubes

  • Roll the cubes and use the body part you roll to do the action you roll

 

Drawing with Mirrors  (I can explore science concepts)

  • You will need a piece of paper and markers from your AT HOME KIT

  • Find a mirror somewhere in the house (the bathroom might be a good spot)

  • Place the paper where you can see the reflection in the mirror.

  • Draw your picture while watching in the mirror instead of looking at the paper. 

    • Is it easy to draw looking in the mirror? Do the lines look the same in the mirror and on the paper? 

 

5 Senses Science  (I can explore my environment)

  • Complete this activity in Seesaw

How Tall Am I?   (I compare measurements)

  • Find the masking tape in your AT HOME KIT

  • Stand against a wall and have your grown up place a small piece of tape to show how tall you are.

  • Can you find objects that you can stack as high as your piece of tape (ie, stacking pillows, canned foods, etc)

  • Measure other people in the house

    • Compare the heights

    • Who is tallest? Shortest? How many things did you  need to reach your height?

 

5 Senses sort (I can categorize items)

  • Complete this assignment in Seesaw

Fine Motor

Magic Names   (I can write my name)

  • Find a piece of white paper, a white crayon, a pencil and the watercolors from your AT HOME KIT

  • Have your grown up write your name on the paper with the pencil.  Make the letters big.

  • Take the white crayon and trace the letters.  You need to press HARD and go over the lines several times.  It’s okay if the letters get “fatter” while you trace

  • Use your watercolors to paint the entire paper.  Make sure to cover all the parts of your name

  • After it dries, look at your paper

    • What do you notice?  Can you see your name?  Why do you think that happened?

 

Self Portrait   (I can represent myself)

  • Find a piece of paper and markers from your AT HOME KIT

  • Draw a picture of yourself

  • Try to write your name on your drawing 

  • Take a photo and add it to Seesaw

 

Body Part Labels (I can cut with control)

  • You will need both sheets of body part labels from your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET

  • You will also need your scissors and tape from your AT HOME KIT

  • Cut our each of the words

  • Have you grown up help you read each word.  See if there are any letters or sounds you recognize

  • Using the tape, put the labels on your body where they should go (So put the foot label on your foot)

  • Once you are all labeled take a photo for Seesaw

    • Find someone else who wants to be labelled and label them?

    • Can you make other labels for more body parts?  Count how many body parts you can name

 

Emotions Face Mat  (I can demonstrate hand-eye coordination)

  • Find the Playdoh in your AT HOME KIT and the blank face sheet in your ALL ABOUT ME LEARNING PACKET

  • Use the Playdoh to create different emotion faces on the 

 

One Crayon or Two  (I can cut demonstrate hand-eye coordination)

  • You will need your crayons and two pieces of white paper from your AT HOME KIT

  • Pick one crayon out of the box and draw a picture on one piece of white paper.  Only use the crayon you picked.

  • Take the other piece of white paper and draw a picture using all of the crayons

    • Which picture is more interesting to you?

    • How did you feel when you could only use one crayon?  What about when you could choose to use them all?

  • Complete this activity of Seesaw

 

5 Senses Scavenger Hunt  (I can record my observations)

  • Complete this activity on Seesaw 

 

Fingerprints  (I can explore with science tools)

  • Find the magnifying glass in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET and the markers and a piece of paper.

  • Have a grown up help you trace your hand on the paper.

  • Use the marker to color the tips of your fingers and make fingerprints on your hand tracing.  

  • Use the magnifying glass to look at your fingerprints

    • What do you notice about them?  Are they all the same?  Can you draw what you see in the fingerprints?

Helping Out  (I can demonstrate locomotor control)

  • Find a partner for this activity

  • Have your partner blindfold you  (you can make a blindfold or just shut your eyes- no peeking!)

  • Your partner will lead you around the room making sure you don’t bump into anything.

  • Switch partners and try it again

    • Is it easier if your partner talks to you about how to move?  Can you navigate through an obstacle course?What are other ways you could help someone if they couldn’t see?

  • You will need your crayons from your AT HOME KIT

  • Work with your grown up to find the words that rhyme on each band aid

  • Color the words that rhyme

 

Icky Germs (I can write about my ideas) 

  • Find the Icky Germs sheet in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET.  You will also need your markers from your AT HOME KIT

  • Think about what you think your germ should look like

  • Draw your germ on the hand

  • Think about what your germ’s name is and what kind of germ it is

  • Have your grown up help you write about your germ 

 

I Know Body Parts

Fine Motor

Skeletons  (I can create with a variety of things)

  • Find the black  paper and the 1 tips in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET and your glue and  white crayon from your AT HOME KIT

  • Glue the Q tips onto the Black paper to create a skeleton

  • Use your white crayon to make a head for your skeleton 

 

Roll and Paint   (I can create follow directions)

  • Find these pages in your ALL ABOUT ME PACKET: the color dice, the body part dice and the boy and girl cut out

  • You will need your watercolors, scissors and tape from your AT HOME KIT

  • Cut out the dice on the outside edge and tape to make a cube

  • Roll the dice to get a color and a body part

  • Use that color to paint that body part on your girl or boy cutout

  • Continue until the you have painted the whole body 

 

See Through Writing 

(I can cut demonstrate hand-eye coordination)

  • You will need the dry erase marker from your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET

  • Dry erase should come right off any smooth surface- but always double check it will wipe off before starting.  To wipe it off you can use a paper towel, tissue or towel.  

  • Use the marker to write on a window or a mirror.  

  • Draw some pictures and also practice writing letters 

    • If you used a window can you look at your drawing from the other side?  Does it look the same?

 

Cutting Sheets  (I can demonstrate hand-eye coordination)

  • Find the cutting sheets in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET and your scissors from your AT HOME KIT

  • Practice your cutting

 

Strong Lungs   (I can cut demonstrate oral motor control)

  • Find the straw and cotton balls in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET  and the ruler in your AT HOME KIT

  • Place your cotton ball around the house and see how far you can blow it in one breath

  • Use the ruler to help you measure how far it went.

    • Is it easier with the straw or without?

    • Does it matter what the cotton ball is sitting on?

    • What happens if you try lay on your stomach to blow the cotton ball?  What about if you are sitting or standing?

Math Fitness   (I can make a simple graph)

  • Complete this assignment in Seesaw

 

Numbers 1-15  (I can recognize and order numerals)

  • Find the Xray numbers sheet in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET.  You will also need your scissors from your AT HOME KIT

  • Cut out each number box

  • Mix them all up and put them back in order

    • You can use less numbers to make it easier or try to place all 15 in order. 

    • Can you name each number?

 

All About my Body (Measure 1)    (I can count objects)

  • Find the All About My Body  sheet in your ALL ABOUT US LEARNING PACKET

  • You will also need the unifix cubes from your AT HOME KIT

  • Put together the cubes to make sticks the same length as the body part you are measuring

  • Count the cubes in the stick

  • Trace or write how many cubes long each body part is

  • You will also need the ruler from your AT HOME KIT

Fire Ladders   (I can subitize)

  • You will need the craft sticks, a pair of dice and the masking tape from your AT HOME KIT

  • Put two lines of tape on the floor.  The lines should be 1-2 feet long and next to each other, far enough apart that the craft stick fits between them (like rungs on a ladder)

  • Roll the dice and say the number without counting (if you can, if you need to count that’s fine too)

  • Place that many rungs (craft sticks) on the ladder

  • Continue until your ladder is full

    • Use one die for an easier game, two if you want to make it a little harder

  • Glue your bacon onto the plate and then add your egg and the egg yolk.

Pizza Letter Trace  (I can write my letters)

  • Trace each letter 

  • If you want to make it harder, take out another piece of paper and copy the letters on the paper

    • Can you name all the letters?

    • Can you tell the sounds of the letters?

  • Make big pizzas out of the playdoh

  • Use the plastic knife to cut the pizzas all the way across to make slices.

  • Keep cutting until your pizza is all sliced up.  

  • Squish your playdoh back together and make another pizza.  Can you think of another way to slice it?

    • What happens if you jump or hop?

    • Try walking down steps or sitting down and standing up without dropping the egg.
